The Sidama Zone has long been the gateway to Ethiopia's southern coffee regions, and recently, the eastern districts of Bensa and Arbegona have been at the forefront of innovation. With farms reaching elevations of 2,300 meters and benefiting from the rich ecosystem of the nearby Herenna Forest, these coffees possess exceptional quality through both traditional and transformative processing methods.
Daye Bensa Coffee Export PLC, founded in 1996, manages over 15 processing stations in eastern Sidama. This particular lot is processed coffee from smallholders in the Mirado community, just outside Daye Bensa town. The processing involves floating and hand-sorting fresh picked cherries, drying them on raised screen beds for 12-15 days, and conditioning them in local warehouses before hulling and transporting them to Daye Bensa's dry milling facility in Addis Ababa for final preparation and export.
